Base rate cut and growth forecast downgraded

They fell to 0.1% by March in response to the Covid pandemic, and stayed there until late 2021. From there, they gradually climbed to a high of 5.25% in August 2023, before being cut to 5% in August 2024, and to 4.75% in November 2024. On 19 December 2024, they were held at 4.75%, before being cut to 4.5% on 6 February 2025.
